The Donbat Institute is a citizen-led non-profit organisation whose mission is to explore, formalise and transmit Donbat.
While Donbat refers to an artistic and transformative practice attentive to imbalances in reality, the Institute provides a framework for experimentation, practical application and transmission. It begins with a simple observation: many problematic situations are known, analysed or denounced, yet remain effectively untransformed. Between awareness and action, a shared framework, method and resources are often missing.
The Donbat Institute works precisely within this gap. The aim is not merely to produce artworks, discourse or critical gestures, but to create the conditions through which a situation can be understood, articulated, shifted and transformed.
The Institute operates as a space for experimentation at the intersection of art, action research, pedagogy, social critique and practices of the commons. It brings together three complementary areas: R.I.T. — Research, Intervention and Transmission.
Research seeks to formalise the principles of Donbat and to produce analytical tools, texts, protocols and critical frameworks. Intervention applies these tools to concrete situations on the basis of identified imbalances. Transmission makes it possible to share methods, document experiences and make knowledge reusable by others.
The Donbat Institute therefore presents itself not as a completed institution, but as a developing structure: a place for formulation, experimentation and cooperation. It seeks to give lasting form to practices capable of acting upon reality where criticism alone is no longer enough.
The Institute is guided by an ethical charter that provides a framework for the practice of Donbat.
