The Donbat Institute is structured around three interdependent areas:
Research, Intervention and Transmission.
This organisation is not merely an administrative division of activities. It forms the operational architecture of Donbat: analysing imbalances, undertaking concrete actions and then transmitting the knowledge and methods produced through experience.
R.I.T. thus enables Donbat to circulate between critical reflection, situated action and the sharing of tools.
Research
The Research area seeks to analyse dysfunctions in reality and formalise the principles of Donbat.
It produces analytical tools, mappings, texts, methodological frameworks, protocols and hypotheses for intervention. It makes it possible to understand situations before acting: identifying the people involved, constraints, power relations, available resources and possible levers for transformation.
Research does not remain separate from action. It is intended to produce operational forms: methods, strategies, systems, economic models and frameworks for intervention.
Intervention
The Intervention area puts Donbat’s tools to the test in concrete situations.
It involves experimenting with proportionate, inventive and responsible responses to identified imbalances in social, economic, ecological, relational, institutional or symbolic situations.
Interventions can take different forms: artistic projects, public actions, collective systems, economic experiments, mediation, workshops, situated investigations or transformation protocols.
The issue is not simply to act, but to act without reproducing the logics one seeks to transform. Each intervention must therefore be conceived within its context, adjusted to its scale and evaluated according to its effects.
Transmission
The Transmission area enables the sharing of knowledge, methods and experiences produced through research and intervention.
This may take the form of workshops, training programmes, publications, meetings, podcasts, methodological documents or public presentations.
Transmission does not consist solely in disseminating content that has already been established. It also makes it possible to reformulate practices, make them accessible to others and reopen research through new uses.
A Circular Method
The three areas of R.I.T. do not operate as separate departments. They remain in constant interaction.
Every research process is intended to produce tools for intervention.
Every intervention generates knowledge that must be analysed.
Every act of transmission, in turn, transforms practices and renews research.
Donbat cannot therefore be reduced to a succession of isolated stages. It operates through a continuous cycle:
Research → Intervention → Transmission → Research
This circular dynamic is the driving force of the Institute. It ensures the connection between analysis, experimentation and the sharing of knowledge.
Operating Principles
R.I.T. is based on several structuring principles.
Ongoing Vigilance
Developing the capacity to observe mechanisms of power, injustice, inefficiency and neglect with precision.
Strategic Objectification
Stepping back from the complexity of a problem in order to identify concrete levers for action.
Proportionate and Ethical Action
Intervening without overstating the action, oversimplifying the situation or reproducing the forms of domination one seeks to transform.
Interconnection of Scales
Connecting the local and the global: every situated intervention belongs to a broader field of social, economic, political or ecological forces.
These principles apply not only to the situations studied by the Institute, but also to its own internal operations, particularly when experimenting with more equitable forms of organisation, remuneration and redistribution.
Training and Transmitting Practices
Donbat can be practised spontaneously, but the Institute seeks to provide it with a transmissible methodological foundation.
This transmission takes place in particular through analytical exercises, intervention simulations, workshops on ethical positioning, collective problem-solving laboratories and documentation formats.
The aim is to strengthen the capacity to act without denying the complexity of situations. Difficulty is not erased; it is observed, broken down, objectified and then addressed strategically.
An Evolving Framework
R.I.T. is not a fixed model. It is an evolving framework intended to change in response to experiences, projects, collaborations and the situations encountered.
The Donbat Institute replaces neither political institutions, activist organisations nor existing social structures. It operates as a space for action research, a catalyst and a laboratory for transformative practices.
Its role is to make Donbat more legible, shareable and operational: a method capable of moving from critique to intervention, from experience to transmission and from a local situation to a broader reflection on the conditions of coexistence.
